Dorothy Miraglia, Ph.D. | Academic Placement Specialist
As a previous online doctoral student, I understand the commitment it takes to earn your degree and the motivation you need to accomplish this goal. I enrolled in my doctoral program in January 2012 and graduated in August 2014, writing my qualitative dissertation in only six months. Perseverance, determination, and support are the key components to success. Finding the right mentor to guide you through your dissertation is essential. My mentor was my cheerleader and always stayed on top of me to help me achieve each milestone and chapter. My students oft en say I am a great leader in the classroom and challenge them to better themselves.
I have always been an avid learner. I double majored in my undergraduate program earning degrees in sociology and music from Adelphi University. I hold two master’s degrees: an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies: Sociology Research and Writing from Hofstra University and a MS in Industrial Organizational Psychology from the University of Phoenix. During my doctoral program at Capella University, I focused on social media behavior and cyber-bullying. My dissertation is titled The experiences of adult women ages 30 -44 who log on to Facebook daily using their smartphone: A generic qualitative study. The success of my dissertation awarded me my PhD in Advanced Studies in Human Behavior.
My role at Dissertation Prep by Doctoraly LLC is to consult with prospective students on how we can help you move throughout your dissertation and accomplish what you set out to do! I strive to help students believe in themselves to achieve the impossible by coming up with a plan and pairing students with a mentor who will be an amazing guide and coach.
Besides working as a consultant, I am a published author and online educator. When I am not working, I am busy raising my three boys with my husband and enjoying life's everyday moments. I was taught early on to work hard and sacrifice, which has proven successful in my professional and personal life.
